Mercedes AMG PETRONAS F1 Team’s George Russell led the way in Saturday’s free practice action as the curtain came down on free practice for the 2023 Formula One season in Abu Dhabi.
Russell edged out McLaren’s Lando Norris for top spot setting a 01:24.418a just 0.095s ahead of Norris while Oscar Piastri in the second McLaren was third fastest with a time of 01:24.810s. It was a fantastic session for Williams Racing’s Alex Albon who made it four Mercedes-powered cars in the top 4 with a time of 01:24.929s.
Charles Leclerc in the Ferrari was fifth fastest with a time of 01:25.099s just ahead of world champion Max Verstappen who set a fastest time of 01:25.153s ending the session just ahead of Esteban Ocon who has recovered from his illness earlier this week.
Logan Sergeant had a great session for Williams Racing ending the session in eighth place with a time of 01:25.205s ending the morning just ahead of Yuki Tsunoda and Alfa Romeo F1 Team Stake’s Guanyu Zhou who rounded out the top ten.

Sergio Perez was 11th just ahead of Lewis Hamilton who set a fastest time of 01:25.292s ending the session just ahead of Pierre Gasly and the Aston Martin Aramco Cognizant Formula One team duo of Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll. Valtteri Bottas was 16th just ahead of Nico Hulkenberg and Daniel Ricciardo while Kevin Magnussen and Carlos Sainz rounded out the order in 20th place.
