George Russell put the Mercedes AMG PETRONAS F1 Team on top of the timesheets in the second free practice session on Friday in Miami. Russell set a time of 01:29.938s and ended the session just ahead of Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc while Oracle Red Bull Racing’s Sergio Perez was third fastest.
Seven-time champion Lewis Hamilton was fourth fastest just ahead of the Alpine F1 Team’s Fernando Alonso who did a great job for the Enstone-based outfit. Lando Norris was sixth fastest for the McLaren Racing Formula One team just ahead of Pierre Gasly while Alfa Romeo F1 Team’s Guanye Zhou was eighth fastest.
Esteban Ocon was ninth fastest for Alpine just ahead of the Haas F1 Team’s Kevin Magnussen. Carlos Sainz was 11th for Scuderia Ferrari despite bringing out the red flag after crashing heavily.
Daniel Ricciardo was 12th fastest just ahead of Scuderia Alpha Tauri’s Yuki Tsunoda and Aston Martin Aramco Cognizant F1 Team’s Sebastian Vettel and the Haas F1 Team’s Mick Schumacher. Lance Stroll was 16th fastest just ahead of the Williams Racing pairing of Alex Albon and Nicholas Latifi. Defending Formula One world champion Max Verstappen of the Oracle Red Bull Racing and Valtteri Bottas failed to complete a lap in second practice.
