However, I still have an important year to spend with McLaren Racing and I can’t wait to return to racing this season.
Sainz has signed a two year contract with the Prancing Horse and speaking about the announcement, Scuderiaa Ferrari Managing Director of Sports Management and Team Principal Mattia Binotto said:
I am happy to announce that Carlos will join the Scuderia Ferrari starting from the 2021 season. With five championships already behind him, he has shown he has great talent and has highlighted those technical and character skills that make it the ideal profile to be part of our family.
We have started a new cycle whose ultimate goal is to return to the top of Formula 1. It will be a long and not without difficulty path, especially in the scenario of an economic and regulatory framework that is changing suddenly and which requires us to face this challenge in differently than in the recent past.
We are convinced that a couple of drivers full of talent and personality such as the one made up of Charles and Carlos, the youngest in the last fifty years of the Scuderia’s history, is the best possible combination to allow us to achieve the goals we have set ourselves.
