Team Peugeot Total and World Rally Championship legend Carlos Sainz scored his second Dakar Rally victory on Saturday.
The 55 year old Spaniard finished the grueling 9,000KM event just ahead of his team Stephane Peterhansel. It has been nine years since Sainz last won the famous race and was the perfect send off for Peugoet who will not compete in the Dakar in 2019.
Speaking about his dad’s famous win, Renault Sport F1 Team’s Carlos Sainz Jr took to Twitter to congratulate his dad.
Today I am probably the proudest son of his father in the whole world. Winner of the toughest @dakar ever done in Southamerica at 55 years of age (good number ) and he did it in his own way. Congrats #matador! @CSainz_oficial Congrats @LucasCruz74
