Indianapolis 500 winner Takuma Sato will be honored at home in Japan next week when he recieves the prestigious Prime Minister’s Award after winning the 101st running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil in May.

Sato is ironically the 33rd recipient of the the Prime Minister’s Award.

Sato who will be presented with the award at a ceremony in Japan on August by Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe commented by saying:

“It means a lot personally but I think it’s great for the sport. “I really appreciate the support I am getting and this award is certainly an absolute honor to have it. I just couldn’t be happier.”
