Schmidt Peterson Motorsports announced on Tuesday that Petro-Canada Lubricants will remain a team partner in the Verizon IndyCar Series having signed a multi-year contact extension.
In 2018, Schmidt Peterson Motorsports will have two Canadian drivers with Robert Wickens having made the move from the German Touring Car Championship to join his friend and fellow Canadian, James ‘The Mayor’ Hinchcliffe.
President of PCLI, Mark A Plake commented on the news by saying:
We are excited to join our distributors and customers, as well as Indy fans in general, in cheering on James and the SPM team again in 2018. “With an aligned focus on innovation and excellence, we look forward to developing new technology opportunities with SPM that drive winning results.
Schmidt Peterson Motorsports president, John Flake commented on the news by saying:

Schmidt Peterson Motorsports James Hinclciffe who drives the No.5 Arrow Electronics Honda commented on the news by saying:
We’re all very excited and proud to be continuing the relationship with PCLI,” commented the five-time IndyCar race winner, Hinchcliffe. “On a personal note, this partnership has always been special, given our mutual Canadian roots. We are excited about the potential that 2018 brings, not to mention, that Canadian maple leaf looks pretty sharp on our No. 5 and No. 6 Indy cars!
The 2018 Verizon IndyCar Series season gets underway from March 9-11 at the Firestone Grand Prix of St Petersburg.
