Schmidt Peterson Motorsports head to the Honda 200 at Mid-Ohio this weekend looking to build on the performance of their drivers James Hinchcliffe and Mikhail Aleshin after the pair had an extremely successful race last time out in Toronto.
James Hinchcliffe who was racing at his home event for the first time 2014 started the race from sixth place which was his best qualifying position around the streets of Toronto. The Oakville native had an even better day on Sunday saving fuel towards the end of the race to secure a third place finish.
The Mayor of HinchTown heads to Mid-Ohio having had a successful race here in 2014 where he finished on the podium in third place and speaking ahead of this weekend’s race he commented by saying:
Mid-Ohio is one of the best races all year. The track is incredible for us as drivers, but I love the vibe there for fans as well. It’s got that big camping culture, all natural seating around the place, it’s just a cool setup. As far as races I’d like to attend as a fan one day, this one is up there. I was on the podium last time I raced there so I’m hoping to get the No. 5 Arrow Electronics car up front again!
Mikhail Aleshin started the Honda Indy Toronto from 10th place and went on to finish the event in sixth place and speaking ahead of the race in Mid-Ohio he commented by saying:
Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course is one of the nicest tracks I’ve been to. It has a great configuration with lots of very technical sectors, lots of fun elevations and great fans. As a team, we’ve been improving all season in the No. 7 SMP Racing car and especially the last two races, so we’re looking to keep that positive momentum going into the next weekend.
