Seven time Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series champion, Jimmie Johnson, says that seat and simulator time will be key for him ahead of what he describes as what will be a tricky rookie season for him with Chip Ganassi Racing in 2021.
Johnson, who will compete in his last full-time Minster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race this weekend in Phoenix with Hendrick Motorsports was in action at Barber Motorsports Park in his new office, the No.48 Carvana Honda for day one of 2021 race preparation.
Johnson will conclude his test on Tuesday before joining his new team mate’s, Scott Dixon, Marcus Ericsson and Alex Palou at Laguna Seca next week.
Speaking following his test on Monday, Johnson said that the test on November 10 will be his last of the year.
Johnson also confirmed he will spend plenty of time in the simulator before getting back in the car in the new year ahead of the 2021 season opening Firestone Grand Prix of St Petersburg which is just 123 days away.
