Former Ferrari president Luca di Montezemelo has revealed that he met with three time Formula One champion Ayrton Senna about the possibility of the Brazilian joining the Italian team.

Speaking to Sky Italia, di Montezemelo revealed that he met with Senna at his house in Bologna where Senna revealed he was desperate to leave Williams.

Senna had a tough start to the 1994 season retiring from both the opening races in Brazil and the Pacific Grand Prix.

Senna started the San Marino Grand Prix from pole position but then there was the terrible events of that Sunday afternoon.

Di Montezemelo who became Ferrari Chairman in 1991 and held that position until his resignation on 13 October 2014 revealed that his biggest regret was not signing Ayrton Senna.
