The 2018 Verizon IndyCar Series season has been incredible so far. We have seen a rookie take pole in his very first race when Robert Wickens took the Verizon P1 Award at the Firestone Grand Prix.

We have seen extremely close racing following the introduction of the new universal aero kit with both Honda and Chevrolet evenly matched,

Last weekend in Detroit, Chevrolet’s back yard, Honda had the upper hand sweeping both races with Chip Ganassi Racing’s Scott Dixon dominating the opening race on Saturday in the No.9 PNC Bank Honda.

In the second race it was Andretti Autosport who dominated with Ryan Hunter Reay and Alexander Rossi battling it out for the win with Hunter Reay taking to Victory Lane.

When it comes to street circuits, it appears that Honda have an advantage with Dale Coyne with Vasser/Sullivan Racing’s Sebastien Bourdais in the No.18 SealMaster Honda winning the opening race on the streets of St Pete.

On the streets of Long Beach it was Alexander Rossi and Andretti Autosport who went to Victory Lane in dominant style.

While in Detroit it was Ganassi with Scott Dixon and Andretti Autosport with Ryan Hunter Reay who won.

When it comes to road courses and ovals, so far this season, Chevrolet have the advantage with Team Penske’s defending series champion Josef Newgarden winning the opening oval race under the lights in Phoenix while he also took victory on the road course in Alabama.

Last month it was Newgarden’s team mate Will Power in the No.12 Verizon Team Penske Chevrolet who swept the month of May at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway winning both the IndyCar Grand Prix of Indianapolis on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course lay out and then the big one, the 102nd running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil.

It is going to be interesting to see how the teams and drivers fair this weekend as the Verizon IndyCar Series heads to Texas Motor Speedway for DXC Technology 600.

Will Power heads into the race in Texas with a five point advantage over Chip Ganassi Racing’s Scott Dixon.
