Meyer Shank Racing will return to the NTT IndyCar Series in 2020 with a new partner following Arrow Schmidt Peterson Motorsports partnership with McLaren to form Arrow McLaren Racing SP.
Paddock Eye understands that Michael Shank is close to announcing a return to Andretti Autosport for 2020 with Jack Harvey following their partnership for the 2017 Indianapolis 500.
Shank confirmed that his IndyCar Series team will be back in 2020 and Paddock Eye understands that the team will complete a full time programme with support from Andretti Autosport.
Chip Ganassi Racing were a possible partner for Shank however with the news that the team will field three cars with Marcus Ericsson joining Scott Dixon and Felix Rosenqvist this door has been closed.
Dale Coyne with Vasser Sullivan Racing will continue to run Sebastian Bourdais in 2020 with Santino Ferrucci set to be retained for a second season alongside Bourdais.
If the partnership between Michael Shank and Andretti Autosport comes to fruition it would mean that Michael Andretti would affectively field six cars in the NTT IndyCar Series having struck a deal with Mike Harding and George Steinbrenner IV to run Colton Herta in the No.88 Capstone Turbines Honda as Andretti Harding Steinbrenner Autosport.
It is understood that Homda are keen to continue their partnership with Michael Shank in the NTT IndyCar Series having already formed a successful partnership with the team through Acura in the IMSA WeatherTech championship.
Harvey had a great season in the NTT IndyCar Series in 2019 scoring his first podium when he finished third at the Grand Prix of Indianapolis behind race winner Simon Pagenaud and Scott Dixon.
