Meyer Shank Racing team co-owner Mike Shank says he is delighted to have three-time Indianapolis 500 winner Helio Castroneves as part of his NTT IndyCar Series program for the 105th running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge on Sunday, May 30.

Speaking to Paddock Eye during a pre-GMR Grand Prix of Indianapolis conference call on Monday, Shank said that having worked with the Brazilian in the past and the chance to work with him again was a no-brainer and he is excited to see what he can at the Speedway.

Meyer Shank Racing has expanded its NTT IndyCar Series program with two cars for select races this season. Shank also confirmed that Castroneves will compete in just the Indianapolis 500 at the end of the month and then his next race will be the Big Machine Music City Grand Prix in Nashville at the start of August.

Shank also confirmed that Jack Harvey was involved in the decision to bring Helio into the team and Harvey himself says that it has been a dream and that he would love to see the 06 Honda go full-time in the NTT IndyCar Series in 2022 with the Brazilian in the car.

Speaking to Paddock Eye during the same call, Jack Harvey said that he just wants to keep the momentum from the start of the 2021 season going into the month of May and build on that momentum during this weekend’s GMR Grand Prix of Indianapolis on the road course.

Harvey told us that he is not just looking at the Speedway where he believes the team can win but also at the double-header in Detroit at the start of June and to be consistent for the rest of the season.
