Meyer Shank Racing co-owner Mike Shank has revealed thst he is open to the idea of expanding Helio Castroneves’ NTT IndyCar Series programme for 2021.

The Brazilian who claimed a brilliant victory in Sunday’s 105th running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge to become a fourth time Indianapolis 500 winner is only with Shank for a partial programme in the NTT IndyCar Series alongside their full-time driver Jack Harvey.

Speaking during the post race press conference, Mike Shank said that while he would love to put a second car in the field for Helio next time out in Detroit it is not that simple.

Shank explained that most of the crew working on Castroneves’ car had flown in from Ohio having migrated temporarily from the MSR sportcar programme meaning logistically it would be difficult to get the crew back for Detroit given the COVID situation but they also had some engineers on loan from Andretti.
