HMD Motorsports Nolan Siegel took victory in the 2024 INDY NXT presented by Firestone 2024 season-opening Firestone Grand Prix of St Petersburg presented by RP Funding on Sunday.
The victory was the perfect way for the 19 year to prepare for his NTT INDYCAR SERIES race debut with Dale Coyne Racing in the No.18 Honda at the Thermal Club next time out.
Speaking following his win, Siegel said:
It feels amazing. “We’ve worked hard for this. First (series) pole this weekend, led every lap. (I) should have won here last year – I made a mistake and redeemed myself today.
“The car was fantastic; the pace was there. It made it easy to drive. I’m so happy to start the season this way.”
Siegel went on to say:
I think it’s definitely making a statement. “We’re going to be the car to beat this season and I’d like to keep it up front as much as possible all the way throughout the year
