The 2017 Formula One season has been a very special one for the Williams Martini Racing Team as they have been celebrating 40 years in Formula One.
The Grove based outfit paired Formula One rookie, Canadian Lance Stroll alongside the extremely experienced Felipe Massa who came out of retirement for 2017 following Valtteri Bottas’ departure to Mercedes replacing 2016 Formula One world champion Nico Rosberg who retired at the end of the year.
The team have endured a tough season in 2017 however for Lance Stroll, following a shaky start to his career he has improved dramatic and has been able to show how talented his is and this shown through in Baku earlier this season when he finished on the podium in third place just behind Valtteri Bottas.
Following a really strong sixth place finish last time in Mexico, Stroll has moved into the top ten in the Drivers championship and has proven why Sir Frank made the right decision in signing him and has also shown the Formula One world that his move into the sport was not driven by money.
Williams remains the only completely independently operated family team with Sir Frank at the helm with his daughter Claire alongside him while Paddy Lowe has also joined the team as Chief Technical Officer and has also taken a shareholding in the outfit as well as a seat on the board of directors.
Frank Williams is a legend of the sport and under his leadership Williams will return to where they should which is at the front in Formula One in the very near future.
