Rob Smedley has confirmed that he will return to Formula One in the future after spending some time with his family.

Smedley who will leave his position as Head of Vehicle Performance at Williams Martini Racing following this weekend’s Abu Dhabi Grand Prix says that the team have a lot of work to do ahead of next season.

The Englishman began his Formula One career with Stewart Grand Prix in 1999 before moving to Jordan in 2001.

In 2004, Smedley moved to Ferrari as Felipe Massa’s race engineer where the pair finished second in the championship in 2008.

Smedley joined Massa at Williams Martini Racing in 2014 where they had plenty of success in 2014 and 2015.
