The sixth stage of the 2017 Dakar Rally was cancelled on Saturday as a result of poor weather.

The area where stage 6 was to be held has been battered by storms meaning that officials took the decision to cancel the days running.

Peugeot’s Stephame Peterhansel continues to lead a 1,2,3 for the French manufacturer with Sebastien Loeb in second place and Cyril Despres in third place. Toyota’s Nani Roma is in fourth place while Mini’s Mikko Hirvonen rounds out the top five.

The Dakar Rally will resume on Monday morning.
