Former Rokit Williams Racing chief engineer and team manager Dickie Stanford says he is not a fan of the halo cockpit protection device that Formula One introduced ahead of the 2019 season.

Speaking to Paddock Eye at the Goodwood Festival of Speed on the Sunday, Stanford who now runs Williams Heritage said that Formula One should have gone down the route of the NTT IndyCar Series by implementing the aeroscreen.

It was announced in May that the NTT IndyCar Series in partnership with Red Bull Advanced Technologies and Dallara will introduce the aeroscreen from the 2020 season onwards.

Stanford believes that the halo does not look good on the cars and that Formula One would have been better served with doing further research with the aeroscreen.
