Justin Wilson’s younger brother Stefan will compete in the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil next month after the KV Racing Technology team confirmed on Tuesday that the Englishman will drive the No.25 Chevrolet.
Stefan will make his first Indianapolis 500 appearance at the Brickyard where Justin competed in eight Indy 500 races with a fifth place finish his best result.
Speaking at the announcement Stefan commented by saying:
I want to say it’s a little bit bittersweet, I’m super excited for the opportunity to qualify for the race, but now that we’ve got the deal done and the focus is on the race, there’s a part of me that does start to miss Justin as well.
The deal with KVRT was made possible with the help of the DrivenToSaveLives initiative and the Indiana Donors Network. Wilson continued by saying:
When I got the deal done, the first person I wanted to tell was Justin and I couldn’t. I know he’s going to be looking down and know he’s proud. I want to make him as proud of me as I was of him.
Wilson joins KVSH Racing’s Sebastien Bourdais and Matthew Brabham as a three car entry for the Indianapolis 500.
Wilson will race with the number that Justin used in his final race at Somona last season. Justin lost his life following a crash during the Verizon IndyCar Series season finale last year and Paddock Eye would like to congratulate Stefan on getting the drive with KVRT and we wish you the very best of luck for the month of May.
