Stefan Wilson who made his NTT IndyCar Series iRacing Challenge debut in the season finale First Responder 175 presented by GMR at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Saturday says that although he wasn’t in a position to compete in the Indianapolis 500 in May he hopes that he will be in the field for the race in August.

The 104th running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge was due to take place in just order three weeks time but due to the global COVID 19 pandemic the start of the 2020 NTT IndyCar Series season has been postponed until at least Saturday June 6 with the opening race of the year being the Genesys 600 at Texas Motor Speedway behind closed doors.

The 104th running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge will not take place on Sunday August 23 with the Indianapolis  Motor Speedway confident ‘The Greatest Spectacle In Racing‘ will go ahead with fans in attendance observing social distancing.

Stefan Wilson raced with Juncos Racing at the virtual Indianapolis Motor Speedway at the weekend and taking to Twitter on Tuesday the Sheffield native said he is going to do everything he can to compete in the 104th running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge and it is a relationship that team owner Ricardo Juncos is looking to continue into the future.

Wilson said:

A week from today, @IndyCar would have been on track at @IMS practicing for the 104th Indianapolis 500. I probably wouldn’t have been among the drivers… Heads down, ready to fight and scratch and claw and grind to change this over the next 3 months #IndyCar #Indy500
