Former Verizon IndyCar Series driver and current NASCAR team owner Tony Stewart has revealed that he would like to compete in the Indianapolis 500 again in the future.

The American who last competed in the Indianapolis 500 in 2001 says he would only return to compete in the Indianapolis 500 if he had a competitive drive and does not want to be a side show like the way he feels his former driver Danica Patrick was when she returned to the Indianapolis 500 for one final outing in May this year.

Roger Penske has confirmed that he would love to run a car for Stewart, but Stewart 47 has not confirmed when he will return to Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the Indy 500.

Stewart has been involved in the series in partnership with Schmidt Peterson Motorsports in recent years.
