Abel Motorsports has announced that Indian-American driver Yuven Sundaramoorthy has joined the team for three races in the 2023 INDY NXT presented by Firestone.

The 20-year-old Wisconsin native will drive the No.57 Dallara IL-15 for the upcoming Music City Grand Prix on the streets of Nashville; he will also compete in the final two rounds of the season at Portland International Raceway at the season-ending event at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca in California.

Sundaramoorthy aims to become the first Indian-American to compete in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES and the Greatest Spectacle In Racing, the Indianapolis 500.

Speaking about the news, Sundaramoorthy commented saying:

I’m really excited to get the call from Abel Motorsports to drive the No. 57 Dallara in the INDY NXT by Firestone Championship. The team has really been coming on strong lately and showing that they have the pace to compete, so for me this really gives me an opportunity to show what I can do in this series. I know the learning curve is going to be there switching to a bigger car with more power, but I think having the teammates I do with me at Abel Motorsports will help shorten that curve. I can’t thank S Team Motorsports LLC, One Motorsports Management, and OMP enough for their help and partnership in making this happen,

Pieter Rossi of One Motorsport Management, who helped to bring Sting Ray Robb into the NTT INDYCAR SERIES with Dale Coyne Racing with RWR for the 2023 season commented on the news, saying:

I’ve had the privilege to work with and manage Yuven since 2018. He is a true professional both on and off the track. I’m proud to see him take the next step into INDY NXT with Abel Motorsports and this mix of races will be a good baseline as he prepares for 2024.

Abel Motorsports are no strangers to the NTT INDYCAR SERIES having made their Indianapolis 500 race debt with RC Enerson in the 107th running of the Indianapolis 500.
