Head of Mercedes Benz motorsport Toto Wolff has spoken publicly for the first time about his wife Susie’s decision to retire from motorsport.
Wolff drove for the Williams Martini Racing Team in four Free Practice session’s during her time as the outfit’s development driver and test driver before being overlooked for the role of reserve driver with the Grove based outfit opting instead to hire former Sauber and Force India driver Adrian Sutil.
That proved to be the straw that broke the camel’s back for Susie as she announced late last year that she was retiring from motor racing.
Toto Wolff believes however that despite her lack of experience she would have been good enough to compete in Formula One driving for one of the midfield team’s such as Force India and Sauber having proven herself fully capable of driving the Williams.
Susie will attend the Autosport International Show this weekend to launch an initiative for women in motorsport.
