BRDC president Derek Warwick has confirmed that Silverstone have opened talks with the British government, Bernie Ecclestone and Liberty Media about hosting the race beyond 2019.
Warwick said that the circuit has been in talks with the government regarding keeping the British Grand Prix at Silverstone beyond 2019.
The former F1 driver said that Silverstone have also spoken to Chase Carey, the new chairman of Formula One and he says that Liberty Media understand the situation that Silverstone find themselves in.
In December, the BRDC set out a letter to their members about the cost of hosting the Grand Prix however Warwick believes that now that they are in talks with the Government, Mr Eccelestone and Liberty Media the future of the race can be secured beyond 2019.
Silverstone is the only circuit on the Formula One calendar that does resume funding from the government.
