Team Penske kicked off their 2017 Verizon IndyCar Series season at the Firestone Grand Prix of St Petersburg last weekend.
Reigning series champion Simon Pagenaud in the No.1 PPG Automotive Refinish Chevrolet started the race from 14th place and came through the field to finish the event on the podium in second place just behind race winner Sebastien Bourdais.
Helio Castroneves in the No.3 Hitachi Chevrolet started the race from 16th place and ended the race in 6th place.
In his first race for Team Penske, Josef Newgarden driving the No.2 Verizon Team Penske Chevrolet started the race from fourth place on the grid and came home with a top ten finish ending the race in eighth place giving Roger ‘The Captain’ Penske three cars in the top ten.
Verizon P1 Award winner Will Power, driving the No.12 Verizon Chevrolet secured his seventh Firestone Grand Prix of St Petersburg pole position in eight years was classified in 19th place having been shown the black flag following a mechanical issue.
