Team Penske head to the Iowa Corn 300 at Iowa Speedway this weekend in control of the Verizon IndyCar Series points standings with three of their four drivers in the top three. Series points leader Simon Pagenaud heads to Iowa hoping to regain his early season form following a tough race last time out at Road America where he suffered an engine issue and as a result finished the race in 13th place.
The Frenchman currently has a lead of 74 points in the race for the championship and yet hasn’t won a race since the Angie’s List Grand Prix of Indianapolis on May 14.
In contrast, Pagenaud’s team mate Will Power has done a fantastic job and has more than made up for missing the opening race of the season at the Firestone Grand Prix of St Petersburg as the Australian has taken back to back victories in the Chevrolet Dual In Detroit Race 2 and last time out out at the Kohler Grand Prix on the Road America circuit.
Helio Castroneves has been chipping away this season and despite having yet to win a race in 2016 he has been extremely consistent with his results and finds himself in second place in the points standings 74 points behind team mate Simon Pagenaud.
Juan Pablo Montoya will be hoping that he can get back to the front this weekend following some tough races for the Colombian who is currently in ninth place in the points standings, however if there is one driver who can bounce back from a tough first half of the season it’s Juan Pablo Montoya.
