The Verizon IndyCar Series may be on a break until the next race however a number of teams were on track at the Pocono Raceway on Thursday.
One driver who was keen to get some track time at Pocono was Max Chilton who has not driven at the circuit before and speaking about the need for track time in Pocono. Chilton who drives the No.8 Gallagher Chevrolet for Chip Ganassi Racing commented by saying:
“It’s hugely important, You’ve got to leave this being comfortable in what you’ve got for the race. We’re trying to get that, so I’m confident to come back here in a fortnight.
Graham Rahal was another driver who was testing today for Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing and speaking about Pocono Raceway he commented by saying:
This place is so tricky, “It’s extremely demanding to get the car balance just right. You’ve got to get the aerodynamic trim levels where you’re still fast enough. You can put on a ton of downforce and make it go flat (on the accelerator), but then you might go too slow for the race. Any day, any lap you can get around here, trust me, is good because you’re always learning.
The ABC Supply 500 takes places on August 21 and marks a three week stint of races, the Firestone 600 at Texas Motor Speedway and the IndyCar Grand Prix at The Glen.
