Several teams in the Verizon IndyCar Series are at Gateway Motorsports Park today (Thursday) to continue preparations for the 2017 season.
The test has been arranged by tire supplier Firestone who are using it to evaluate the best compounds to use at the track for next year’s race. There will be a number of firsts at the test as Sebastien Bourdais who was confirmed as Dale Coyne Racing driver for 2017 on Wednesday will drive the car for the first time.
It is also a very big day for Chip Ganassi Racing and Tony Kanaan. The Brazilian who announced an extension to his contract with the team into next season along with his primary sponsor NTT DATA earlier this week will test with a Honda engine.
It was confirmed last week that following three seasons with Chevrolet power that Chip Ganassi Racing will make the switch back to Honda power for next season.
