The Verizon IndyCar Series teams are at Sebring International Raceway this week for the final pre-season test before the season gets underway next weekend with Firestone Grand Prix of St Petersburg.

There are plenty of changes this season with new teams, Carlin Racing join the field with Charlie Kimball and Max Chilton driving for the Chevrolet powered outfit.

Carlin are joined on the grid by Michael Shank Racing who have joined the grid in partnership with Schmidt Peterson Motorsport, Jack Harvey joins Canadian’s James Hinchcliffe and Robert Wickens for a partial programme in 2018.

Harding Racing with Gabby Chaves join the series as a full-time outfit having entered a number of events in 2017 which saw Chaves perform extremely well. The team have brought in former Verizon IndyCar Series race director Brian Barnhart as team president.

The Sebring test will allow the teams to fine tune their cars for the first event of the season, the Firestone Grand Prix of St Petersburg which takes place from March 9 -11.

Team Penske move to a three car full-time line-up with Helio Castroenves moving to the Penske sports car programme with reigning series champion Josef Newgarden, Will Power and Simon Pagenaud staying with the team.

One thing is certain, the Firestone Grand Prix of St Petersburg is going to be a cracking season opener with the new aero kit.
