The NTT IndyCar teams are set to utilise the vast Texas Motor Speedway facility when they head to the Lone Star state in three weeks time for the Genesys 300, the first race of the 2020 season. Paddock Eye understands that officials at Texas Motor Speedway have allocated extra space to the teams on pit road to allow for great distances between pit stalls.
The NTT IndyCar have also issued a strict mandate in accordance with COVID 19 health protocols in that each team are limited to 20 staff members per entry.
Speaking to Motorsport.com recently, Andretti Autosport CEO Rob Edwards said that each team will have 45ft pit boxes meaning that they will effectively take up the full length of the pit lane. Edwards also explained that teams will have more space to work in the garage area and will be spread out more than they have been previously.
Andretti Autosport have an additional car for the opening race of the season with the Mayor of HinchTown joining the field driving the No.29 Genesys Honda meaning that Andretti Autosport will bring 120 team personnel to the track as they will run six cars.
All personnel entering the track will have the temperatures checked in accordance with the CDC’s guidelines.
