The Verizon IndyCar Series heads to Mid-Ohio next weekend for the Honda Indy 200 at the Mid-Ohio sports car course round 12 of the championship next weekend with Chevrolet the dominant force this year.
From the previous 11 races in 2016, Chevrolet have powered their way to victory lane on ten occasions with the only Honda win of the season so far coming for Alexander Rossi and Andretti Autosport at the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil which came in May.
Chevrolet returned to the Verizon IndyCar Series in 2012 and since then they have won the manufacturers championship every year.
The 2016 season has been extremely successful for their partnership with Roger Penske who celebrates 50 years in racing this year as the combination have won seven races so far this season.
Chevrolet also swept the board at their home race, the Chevrolet Dual In Detroit last month.
It is not just Chevrolet’s power house team’s like Ganassi and Penske who have won races this year but the smaller teams of Ed Carpenter Racing and KVSH Racing have also been to victory lane this season.
It would appear that this season the Chevrolet Aero kit has just been the one to beat when it comes to the races.
However don’t discount Honda adding to their Indianapolis 500 victory in the next few races as the 2016 Verizon IndyCar Series comes to a close.
