Six-time Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio race winner Scott Dixon in the No.9 PNC Bank Chip Ganassi Racing Honda says that there isn’t really anything that he can point to as to why he is so good at this particular race track.
Speaking to Paddock Eye on Wednesday during a conference call the Iceman said that as a team, Chip Ganassi Racing has been extremely successful here.
Dixon said that Charlie Kimball winning and others like himself are great for the team. Dixon said that he has been at the track in Mid-Ohio 50 or 60 times and that the experience he has had at the track has paid off.
Dixon is one of only two drivers on the grid this season who has completed every lap so far this season and he is in sixth place in the championship just 69 points behind championship leader Marcus Ericsson.
The Iceman is hoping that the team can score a strong result this weekend and start a run of strong results in the second half of the season.
Every weekend you try to do your best and you have to let the course of the season work out. The NTT IndyCar Series returns to the streets of Toronto on July 17 and speaking to Paddock Eye about that very venue, Dixon said that he is excited to be heading back north of the border.
Dixon also said that he feels that Jimmie Johnson will do well here this weekend as he has the experience from last season that he can use to his advantage.
