Firestone Racing’s Chief Engineer Cara Adams says that the tire allocation remains the same for the 103rd running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge which takes place on Sunday despite the threat of bad weather today.
Speaking to Paddock Eye on Friday, Adams said that each driver will receive 36 sets of tires.
Cara said that she was surprised by the fact that some full time drivers didn’t make it into the field for the race on Sunday like Fernando Alonso and the Carlin drivers.
When it comes to the construction of the tire for this years race it is completely different to last years and the team at Akron where Firestone are based worked extremely hard on developing the tire for the race and have had great feedback from the drivers which will help Firestone develop the tire for next year’s race.
Adams has been impressed with the how the rookies have adapted for the event and it is going to be interesting to see how they do in the race.
