Indianapolis based Top Gun Racing announced on Tuesday that RC Enerson will attempt to qualify for Saturday’s N55 IndyCar Series iRacing Challenge season finale at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Enerson will pilot the No.99 Hergarty Dallara.
The team’s addition to the line up for the race is part of their wider plan to enter the NTT IndyCar Series for real when when racing returns with their aim to be on the grid for the 104th running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge on August 23.
At a time of uncertainty for everyone it is a great to see a new team entering the series and it is wonderful that Top Gun Racing are using the NTT IndyCar Series iRacing Challenge as a platform on which to launch their team.
Enerson has previous experience in the NTT IndyCar Series having competed three races for Dale Coyne Racing in 2016 and for Carlin Racing last season in Mid Ohio.
The news of their planned 3ntry into the NTT IndyCar Series is fantastic for the sport and continues to show that the sport is going from strength to strength.
The news of Top Gun Racing joining the NTT IndyCar Series for 2020 comes after Meyer Shank Racing expanded to a full time operation for 2020 while Dreyer and Reinbold Racing’s Dennis Reinbold Hope’s to expand to at run at least three races this year with Sage Karam which includes the 104th running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge on August 23.
