The Sauber F1 Team endured a tough opening day to their Bahrain Grand Prix weekend at the Sakhir circuit on Friday.
In the opening session Felipe Nasr ended up as the 19th fastest time, a 1m 36.719s while in the second session the Brazilian ended the session in 21st place with a time of 1m 34.477s completing 58 laps over the course of the two sessions.
Speaking following the session, Nasr commented by saying:
It was positive that we got in some mileage in both practice sessions. We were able to do short and long-runs, which is important for the rest of the weekend. In terms of driving, I am still not satisfied with the handling of the car. We still have a lot of work to do as we have to find more pace.
Marcus Ericsson ended the opening session with the 16th fastest time with a 1m 35.728s completing 30 laps while in the second session he set the 20th fastest time with a 1m 34.224s completing 31 laps.
Speaking following the session he stated:
It was a productive day. I was able to collect some good mileage. We need that in order to continue our work in understanding the characteristics of the C35. There is surely room for improvement in terms of performance, but the main priority today was to put in as many laps as possible. Now we need to analyse everything to see what we can optimize for the rest of the weekend.
