The Verizon IndyCar Series teams will begin track activity at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway today as practice officially gets underway for the 102nd running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil.
Track time is extremely important not just for the full-time Verizon IndyCar Series teams and drivers but also for the one off drivers and teams like Dreyer & Reinbold Racing and drivers such as Danica Patrick, Conor Daly, Pippa Mann and Sage Karam.
There is greater importance this week as there is threatening weather around the Indianapolis area so drivers will want to get as much mileage in a possible as early as they can to enable them to gather data to allow them to set-up and configure their cars. All eyes are on Dale Coyne Racing today as the team are expected to announce who will drive the No.19 Paysafe Honda in place of Pietro Fittipaldi for the 102nd running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil.
Team Penske head into the 102nd running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil with plenty of momentum have won three of the first five races this year and have defending series champion Josef Newgarden leading the championship by just two points from Andretti Autosport’s Alexander Rossi.
