Joe Gibbs Racing announced on Wednesday evening that 2017 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series champion Martin Truex Jr has signed a contract extension with the team which will see the New Jersey native compete in the No.19 Toyota Camry beyond 2021.
Speaking about the news, team owner Joe Gibbs said:
Extending Martin’s agreement has been a big priority for us this off season. “Martin brings so much to our organization. Obviously he’s talented and shown he can win at any racetrack but his insights also helps to make all our teams better.
Truex Jr who has won 27 races in six seasons in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series will start Sunday’s Daytona 500 from 28th place and speaking about his new contract he said:
“I’m happy to get this news out there so we can focus on this season and the future with Joe Gibbs Racing. “This is where I wanted to be and to continue building on the success we have had together the past two years.
