The Turkish Grand Prix at the Istanbul Park Circuit is set to make a return to the Formula One calendar.

Chase Carey, the new Chairman of Formula One met with Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan on behalf of Liberty Media, Formula One’s new owners on Tuesday where a deal was struck ‘in principal’ for Turkey to return to the calendar.

A deal has been agreed but not yet signed however.

The first Turkish Grand Prix was held in 2005 and was won by Kimi Raikkonen while the last race in 2011 was won by Sebastian Vettel.

It is not yet when the Turkish Grand Prix will return to the calendar.
