The announcement on Wednesday that United Autosports will join the FIA World Endurance Championship from 2019/20 season is not just fantastic news for series but it is also brilliant news for British motorsport.
United Autosports have been extremely successful in the ELMS championship and the team will be hoping to carry that success over to the FIA World Endurance Championship programme.
It also means that the company who are based in Leeds will be able to showcase the best in British engineering on the world stage.
The team are joining the series at a very exciting time and will be up against the established teams like Rebellion and Manor.
The outfit have to very exciting drivers in their line up with Phil Hanson and Filipe Albuquerque named in their line up for the new season.
The opening race in Silverstone provides the perfect backdrop for the team to launch their 2019/20 assault on the LMP2 class in the FIA World Endurance Championship.
United Autosports will have their ELMS car on display throughout this weekend’s Autosport International Show at Birmingham’s NEC Arena.
