Ed Carpenter Racing’s Rinus Veekay, driver of the No.21 Sonax Chevrolet has revealed that he broke his finger during his crash at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Thursday morning.
The injury happened just over a week a before the start of the 2021 NTT IndyCar Series season at Barber Motorsports Park for the Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama which takes place next weekend from April 16-18. Taking to Twitter, Veekay said:
Note to self: don’t post on social media you’re ready for the season with testing still to go. Nasty wind from the side swept me into the wall. Broken finger, but good to go again. Sorry to the team, these days were meant to get as many laps and I’m gutted we can’t do that now… pic.twitter.com/MnLZ81uAFH
