Aston Martin Red Bull Racing’s Max Verstappen led the way in the opening practice session ahead of Sunday’s British Grand Prix at the Silverstone circuit. The Dutch driver set a fastest time of 01:27.422s ending up just 0.474s ahead of defending champion Lewis Hamilton in his Mercedes.

BWT Racing Point F1 Team’s Lance Stroll was third fastest just ahead of Alex Albon in the second Red Bull. Scuderia Ferrari’s Charles LeClerc was fourth fastest just ahead of the zmercedes of Valtteri Bottas.

The Renault F1 Team pairing of Esteban Ocon and Daniel Ricciardo were seventh and eighth respectively while the returning Nico Hulkenberg was ninth fastest, 1.170s behind Max Verstappen while Daniil Kvyat rounded out the top ten for Alpha Tauri.

Pierre Gasly was eleventh just ahead of the McLaren pairing of Lando Norris and Carlos Sainz. The Haas F1 Team’s Kevin Magnussen and Romain Grosjean were 14th and 15th.

George Russell was 16th for Williams just ahead of Alfa Romeo Racing ORLEN  Formula One Team’s Antonio Giovinazzi and Kimi Raikkonen while Williams Nicholas Latifi was 19th while Sebastian Vettel failed to set a time due to an issue with his Ferrari.

The session was briefly red flagged to vlear debris from Antonio Giovinazzi’s Alfa Romeo Racing ORLEN.
