Aston Martin Red Bull Racing’s Max Verstappen was the pace setter on Friday morning in Abu Dhabi. The Dutchman set a fastest time of 01:38.491s ending the session just ahead of his team mate Daniel Ricciardo.
Mercedes AMG PETRONAS F1 Team’s Valtteri Bottas and Lewis Hamilton were third and fourth fastest respectively while Racing Point Force India’s Esteban Ocon was fifth fastest.
Kevin Magnussen was sixth fastest for the Haas F1 Team ending the morning ahead of Scuderia Ferrari’s pairing of Kimi Raikkonen and Sebastian Vettel. Carlos Sainz was ninth fastest despite a late spin in the session while Romain Grosjean rounded out the top ten for the Haas F1 Team.
Pierre Gasly was 11th fastest for Scuderia Toro Rosso just ahead of the Renault Sport F1 Team’s Nico Hulkenberg and Sergio ‘Checo’ Perez.
Brendan Hartley was 14th fastest just ahead of Williams Martini Racing’s Lance Stroll. The Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 Team’s Giovinazzi was 16th fastest as he prepares for his Formula One debut with the Hinwill based outfit next season.
The Italian finished the session just ahead of his team mate Marcus Ericsson who spun his car and tapped the barrier. McLaren’s Stoffel Vandoorne and Fernando Alonso were 18th and 19th respectively while Williams Martini Racing’s Robert Kubica who rounded out the order.
