Red Bull Racing’s Max Verstappen took to Instagram on Thursday evening to apologize for the comments he made about the FIA following his penalty at last weekend’s United States Grand Prix.
The teenager was asked by FIA Race Director Charlie Whiting to apologize for the comments he made.
On Instagram he said:
Further to what I said during the FIA press conference earlier today, I would once again apologise for the language that I used following the US Grand Prix. My comments were made in the heat of the moment, I know that the words I used were inappropriate and they were not directed at any on person, I certainly did not mean to cause any offence and I hope we can move on and enjoy this race weekend.
Verstappen was handed a five second time penalty for going off track to overtake Kimi Raikkonen in the second last corner of the Circuit of the Americas on the last lap of the United States Grand Prix finishing on the podium and as a result of the penalty he was demoted to fourth place.
