Aston Martin Red Bull Racing’s Max Verstappen took the Milton’s Keynes based outfit’s first win of the season at their home race at the Red Bull Ring on Sunday. The Dutchman also delivered Honda their first Formula One victory since Jenson Button won in Hungary in 2006.
Verstappen who started the race from second on the grid took the lead from Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc in the closing stages of the race in a move that is now under investigation by the race stewards.
Mercedes AMG PETRONAS F1 Team’s Valtteri Bottas came home in third place just ahead of Sebastian Vettel who came from ninth place to finish in fourth just ahead of his championship rival and defending champion Lewis Hamilton.
It was a great race for McLaren Racing as Lando Norris finished the event in sixth place just ahead of Pierre Gasly in the second Red Bull.
Carlos Sainz came from the back of the field to give McLaren a double points finish in eighth place. It was a fantastic day for the Alfa Romeo Racing team as both Kimi Raikkonen and Antonio Giovinazzi finished in the points and in doing so has moved the Swiss team up to sixth place in the Constructors championship.
Sergio Perez was left disappointed as he ended the race in 11th place just ahead of the Renault Sport F1 Team;’s Daniel Ricciardo and Nico Hulkenberg,
Lance Stroll was 14th place just ahead of Toro Rosso’s Alexander Albon and Romain Grosjean. Daniil Kvyat was 17th just ahead of Williams George Russel and Kevin Magnussen while Robert Kubica rounded out the order in 20th place. Next up for Formula One is the British Grand Prix in Silverstone.
