Formula One championship leader Sebastian Vettel led the second free practice session at the Silverstone circuit on Friday ahead of Sunday’s British Grand Prix.
The four time world champion set a fastest time of 01:27.552s ending the day just ahead of his main championship rival Lewis Hamilton while Valtteri Bottas in the second Mercedes rounded out the top three.
Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen was fourth fastest with a time of 01:28.045s ending the day just ahead of Aston Martin Red Bull Racing’s Daniel Ricciardo.
It was a great session for McLaren Renault’s Fernando Alonso as the Spaniard ended the day in sixth place just ahead of the Renault Sport F1 Team’s Nico Hulkenberg while Sahara Force India’s Esteban Ocon was eighth.
Sergio ‘Checo’ Perez was ninth while Charles Leclerc followed up his strong morning session rounding out the top ten.
Carlos Sainz was 11th for the Renault Sport F1 Team ending the day just ahead of the Haas F1 Team’s Kevin Magnussen. Scuderia Toro Rosso’s Pierre Gasly was 13th just ahead Marcus Ericsson.
Williams Martini Racing’s Lance Stroll and Sergey Siroktin were 15th and 16th respectively.
Stoffel Vandoorne was 17th just ahead of Toro Rosso’s Brendon Hartley. Aston Martin Red Bull Racing’s Max Verstappen failed ti set a tine after stopping in track and was classified in 19th while the Haas F1 Team’s Romain Grosjean did not take part in the session following his crash in FP1.
