Scuderia Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel took his fifth victory of the season in the Belgian Grand Prix at the Spa Francorchomps circuit to close his points deficit to 17 points to Lewis Hamilton.
Hamilton finished the race in second place for Mercedes while Aston Martin Red Bull Racing’s Max Verstappen finished his home race in third place having started the race from seventh.
It was a great race for Valtteri Bottas as he came through the field from 17th to finish the race in fourth place.
It was a great day for the Racing Point Force India F1 Team as Sergio Perez and Esteban Ocon finished the race in fifth and sixth place respectively giving the Silverstone based outfit their first points.
The Haas F1 Team’s Romain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen finished the race is seventh and eighth while Scuderia Toro Rosso’s Pierre Gasly and the Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 Team’s Marcus Ericsson rounded out the top ten.
Carlos Sainz finished the race in eleventh for the Renault Sport F1 Team just ahead of the Williams Martini Racing Team’s Sergey Siroktin.
Lance Stroll was 13th in the second Williams just ahead of Scuderia Toro Rosso’s Brendon Hartley while McLaren Renault’s Stoffel Vandoorne rounded out the order.
Fernando Alonso and Charles Leclerc were caught up in a scary first corner crash forcing them both to retire.
Kimi Raikkonen also retired from the race as did Daniel Ricciardo and Nico Hulkenberg who was involved in the crash with Alonso and Leclerc.
