W Series, the all-female racing category has entered administration.
The series failed to secure the necessary funding to continue to 2023 despite having been part of the Formula One schedule.
Taking to Facebook on Thursday, Fabienne Wohlwend said:
It’s saddening to hear that W Series has gone into administration today.
Looking back, I am reminded of how W Series helped turn my childhood dream of becoming a professional racing driver into reality. When I first joined back in 2019, I was balancing a full-time job as a banker while competing in the european Ferrari Challenge.
The last four years with W Series have been truly special, filled with numerous ups and downs, unforgettable adventures, new connections, and lifelong friendships.
It’s important to note that the W Series did not fail. In fact, it provided many of us with the opportunity to showcase our skills on a professional level, inspiring the next generation of racers.
I will forever remain grateful for the support and encouragement of Catherine, Sean, and the entire W Series team. Thank you for making my dream come true and for the immense support provided to us at #teamWseries. 💜
