Today’s the day! The XPEL Grand Prix of Road America takes place at Elkhart Lake Wisconsin this afternoon.
The driver that Paddock Eye are watching out for is Chip Ganassi Racing’s Scott Dixon.
Having made it into the Firestone Fast 12, the Iceman was dumped out of qualifying after INDYCAR officials found that he had impeded Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing’s Devlin DeFrancesco.
As a result of the penalty, the Iceman starts the race out of position in 25th place. The driver of the No.9 PNC Bank Chip Ganassi Racing Honda has won here twice in the past but will have his work cut out for him today.
Dixon goes into the race in fifth in the championship following a fourth place finish at World Wide Technology Raceway last weekend.
As Mario Andretti told us on Friday, Road America is a race track that allows for overtaking and we can expect the most experienced driver in the field to do just that…overtake.
