Former Verizon IndyCar Series driver Dario Franchitti says that Watkins Glen is the natural habitat for the series on road courses.

Franchittti was speaking during a legends lunch at the circuit ahead of this weekend’s IndyCar Grand Prix. The Scotsman loves the history of the Glen. Speaking to Paddock Eye he said that putting a lap together at the circuit was always special and then you get out of the car and see you were third and says ‘oh man’.

The series returns to Watkins Glen this weekend for the first time 2010. Franchitti was joined at the discussion by Bobby Rahal and Team Penske driver Helio Castroneves who said that the Watkins Glen circuit is the DNA of open wheel racing.
