Andretti Harding Steinbrenner Autosport’s James Hinchcliffe says that it was always the plan to return to full-time NTT IndyCar Series this season following his three-race deal with Andretti Autosport last season. The Mayor of HinchTown lost his drive with Schmidt Peterson Motorsports at the end of the 2019 season however the decision came too late for the Canadian to secure a full-time drive for last season.
While Hinch’s former teammate, Marcus Ericsson landed a full-time drive with Chip Ganassi Racing, Hinch’s first did just a handful of races.
Speaking to the official Andretti Autosport website this week, Hinch said:
“This program is something we’ve been working on since the day we signed our three-race deal with Andretti Autosport last March. “Being back full time has always been the goal and it feels so great to know that I will be back on the grid and with such an amazing team who I’ve had a lot of great memories and success with.
James Hinchcliffe’s car will have a shared primary sponsorship from Capstone and Genesys who entered the sport with the Mayor of HinchTown last season.
